Full course description
This is a web‑based course in Laboratory Animal Science focusing on electrofishing as a survey method.
The course covers boat electrofishing, used in larger and deeper waters where wading is not possible. A boat equipped with an electrofishing unit generates an electric current that temporarily stuns fish near the surface, enabling netting, species identification, and measurement before release.
The method provides an effective basis for studying fish populations in lakes and larger watercourses.
To complete the course, the following courses must also be taken:
- Swedish Legislation & Ethics, Animal Welfare and the 3R
- Laboratory Animal Science – Survey Fishing
- Survey Fishing – Electrofishing, Fish and Electricity, and Anaesthesia
